Starting a new career and finding your identity all over again
Being a beginner may be hard, especially for a perfectionist engineer. There were so many feels because it comes down to finding out your own identity again. Erica shares how she was working full time in tech, building a business in photography, attempting to do weddings, and struggling with it all.
The only person who can give you permission is you
You can wait for people to give you permission, but it’s not until you give yourself permission that things can happen. Each of us have to make that decision for ourselves. No one can give that to us, especially when we are creating something new in our community. This translates to women going into product, women going into STEM, anybody who wants to do anything, you are the person that decides that’s what you want to be.
How the combination of art and tech brings out the best in you
Growing in confidence in our area of life tends to support our confidence in all areas of our lives. Technical degrees don’t teach 50% about what we need to learn. They can teach us that we don’t actually have to know how to do anything. We can figure it out by doing the research and figuring it out.
The motivation to inspire and be of service to others
Know your motivation, also when it terrifies you. Others may tell you your motivation or magic first. Erica and Nicole share their motivations and how others helped them find their own. And thrive in them.
