- Permission to speak up and share your experience and expertise.
- Permission to be promoted.
- Permission to ask for a salary raise.
- Permission to become who you actually want to be.
They can’t give you permission because YOU are the person who takes the action, the person who changes her mindset, the person who creates your life.
You.
Those other people can’t give you permission because they aren’t going to do the work to make your goals reality and your dreams real.
And, also, in addition, because of: the majority of people currently in positions of authority in tech don’t even identify with the label “woman in tech.” So they sure as hell can’t give you permission because they’ve never started where you are starting, aimed for where you are aiming, or became WHO you want to become.
I mean, sure, sometimes I joke around with my clients and ‘give’ them permission: permission to ask, apply, step up, speak up, and become.
But it is a joke, an encouragement.
Because in reality, my clients are the ones that create their new identity, track towards a promotion and salary, set up the interest interviews, get serious on their growth plan, negotiate their offers and new roles, deepen their relationships, and show up in brand new ways.
I celebrate the SHIT out of every single win for every single client. I know I helped them create them. And they created them.
Every single client *must* give herself permission to be the BRAVE badass she truly, fully, completely is.
Only her permission matters to her.
And only YOUR PERMISSION matters to YOU.
Still not sure? Then listen to this week’s gorgeous, generous conversation with my best friend of over 20 years, Erica Tamburo, on the Celebrate BRAVE podcast.
Experience how YOU TOO can be whatever the flick you want – as long as you listen to your own voice and stop asking other people for directions to places they have never even thought of, let alone been.
For example, I bet more than 80% of the people in tech would argue that you can’t be a
- Caregiver and tech executive
- Rancher and developer
- Rapper and tech sales lead
